We spent both days out again this weekend. Saturday we went back up into the desert in search of jasper. We found an old mine that was covered in jasper. Had a great time checking out the area and even came across an old miners cabin. The roof was completely gone, but the walls still stood. The girls called it their castle and we spent a good amount of time hanging out there.
Today we drove out to San Bernardino National Forest. We were tired of seeing nothing but brown, and wanted to see some green. Found a beautiful little stream alongside the mountains. Rob metal detected for gold (didn’t find anything) and the kids played in the water for hours. They were soaked, and since we hadn’t prepared to get in the water – they had to ride home in their underwear.
We’re really enjoying our weekends out exploring. Our time is coming to an end here in Barstow (we move to Oceanside in August), so we’re getting our last fill of the desert before we move.
Oh yeah – and I add about 150 new pictures to the site today too. Be sure to check them out.
